African Digital Development Manager at Creative Associates International in Abuja, Nigeria

The overall goal of this position with the Creative Development Lab is to lead Creative’s presence across the African continent as it relates to digital development priorities and interests by sourcing and supporting African technology innovation relevant for development, identifying partnership opportunities, yielding value from partnerships, designing digital solutions relevant to Creative’s development programs, and supporting Creative’s business development efforts on the continent.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Grow and maintain strong relationships and networks with the growing technology ecosystem in West Africa to find and facilitate partnerships that strengthen Creative’s ability to pursue both traditional donor-funded activities as well as non-traditional development programs such as Public-Private Partnerships and grant opportunities;

  • Provide short-term technical assistance to the West Africa Trade and Investment Hub (WATIH) project and other projects in the region as needed;

  • Provide support to business development, capture and proposal efforts on the continent well suited for digital solutions;

  • Assist in the development and management of a prospective impact investment partnership;

  • Develop selection criteria and measures of success for prospective impact investments and perform due diligence;

  • Make the case for grants and investments to Creative’s leadership investment committee;

  • Monitor grantees/investees to oversee and verify reporting, assess assistance needs, and determine ongoing feasibility/viability;

  • Manage existing relations with Mobile Network Operators (such as Orange and MTN) and yield value from them for all parties involved; and

  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to both internal and external marketing with regional USAID missions, Creative projects in the region, and the regional technology community.

Communications & Outreach Specialist at Macfadden in Washington, DC

The Communications and Outreach Specialist will manage the Office’s communications and outreach functions in collaboration with CMM colleagues. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, designing and executing a program to inform and educate the public, media, and other specified audiences about CMM activities and accomplishments. The incumbent will also work with CMM specialists to design and execute outreach activities that further increase the outcomes and impact of CMM products and services.

  • Develop or adapt CMM’s Communications and “Outreach Strategy and Action Plan” as needed to account for newly emerging Office priorities and needs.

  • Develop communications and outreach materials for specific audiences and stakeholders, including for missions and bureaus, the U.S. Government inter-agency, USAID policymakers, and the public.

  • Create talking points, briefing materials, briefing books, and information packets for presentations as required by CMM staff, DCHA management, and USAID leadership.

  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and op-eds as requested.

  • Develop social media content as requested, including blogs and more extensive compositions for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube sites.

  • Oversee the development of visual materials, including infographics and video content.

  • Develop content for CMM events, including conferences, internal USAID presentations, and public.

  • Prepare materials for visits by high-level officials; as requested assist with advance work for event planning including scheduling and material production.

  • Manage online, print, and other communication campaigns to promote USAID work on peacebuilding or other related campaigns on conflict prevention.

  • Develop content and help oversee quality control of CMM’s external-facing and CMM’s internal-facing websites (USAID Pages).

  • Work in collaboration with various team members to produce communications materials that support the delivery of our strategy and ensure alignment to Save the Children’s brand position, visual identity, organizational priorities, and stakeholder requirements.

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Organization-wide (and departmental if required) Internal Communications plan, including all staff engagement for external initiatives including but not limited to: communications requirements of all staff information meetings, Town Halls, CEO emails, workplace, fundraising for emergencies, campaign mobilization moments, International Days.

  • Under the direction of the Head, Communications, PR & Media and guided by SCC’s overall Media Relations & PR strategy, assist with the development and implementation of organizational media and PR plans.

  • Ensure alignment and consistency in SCC’s brand positioning, tone, visual identity and key messages across the organization.

  • Act as primary liaison with communication vendors/suppliers responsible for monitoring metrics of success outlined in the contract and statement of work.

Communications & Reporting Officer at UNHCR (Remote)

Under the supervision of the HQ-based Senior Education Officer (Emergencies) and in collaboration with the Chief of the Education Section, the HEA Communications and Reporting Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Lead the production of advocacy and communications materials on the HEA project (including social media posts, blog posts, tweets, articles; updating the HEA website/ pages; and producing other materials as needed/ appropriate that provide information of key activities and present the findings of research and evaluations in an accessible format).

  2. Develop and implement a strategic plan for HEA-related communications that builds on lessons learned during the implementation of the first phase of the HEA (2016-2019).

  3. Support the development of materials (general and related to public advocacy and communication) for workshops with organizations selected to participate in the HEA.

  4. Contribute to and edit donor reports in order to ensure a high standard of reporting

  5. Support the Education Section in developing a communications strategy

The staff member will be expected to travel to project workshops and locations for up to a week at a time.

The Communications and Reporting Officer will produce the following deliverables over the course of the project:

  1. Establish and/or update the communications strategy for the HEA project and for UNHCR's education section

  2. Establish and update the HEA website and Learning Series.
